The Riden RD6012 is the higher current sibling of the popular RD6006 programmable buck converter module, keeping the same 60V ceiling but doubling output current to 12A, which lifts usable output power to roughly 720W if the upstream supply can feed it. That last point matters more than the headline figures: as a DC to DC converter rather than a complete bench supply, the RD6012 is only as good as the transformer or SMPS placed in front of it, and the input voltage limit means high current work at low output voltage still throws away a lot of energy as heat.
The review walks through the physical changes over the RD6006, including the larger heatsink and fan arrangement needed to handle the extra current, the terminal and wiring provisions, and the colour display interface with its memory presets, constant current settings and over voltage, over current and over temperature protections. Ripple and noise are the usual weak spot on switching modules of this type, so the measured figures are the key data point for anyone considering it for sensitive analogue or RF work.
For buyers, the takeaway is that the RD6012 is excellent value as the control and regulation core of a DIY bench supply, provided you are realistic about the input supply, cooling and dissipation needed to actually reach 12A.
