Review and Teardown of a Peak Electronics ESR70 ESR Meter
This is an excellent piece of kit from Peak Electronics for finding electrolytic capacitors that are in the early stages of failing or have already failed. This is essential when troubleshooting faulty equipment, as failed capacitors can do not always show any visible signs of failure, and can still measure fine on capacitance meters. The concept of ESR is introduced in this video, which is an important parameter for correct operation of many power supplies.

Review and Teardown of a Peak Electronics DCA75 Semiconductor Analyser
This item of test equipment is a handy for both identifying components and pin-outs of 2 and 3 lead semiconductor devices, but also to quickly check they are working. The device can test most semiconductor devices although there are some limitations – TRIACs and SCRs are limited to 10mA test current, and Zeners/Regulators up to around 8V. It has a graphic LCD screen for display of the schematic symbol of the device under test, but can also interface with a PC using the USB port for more advanced features such as transistor curve tracing.

Review and Teardown of a Peak Electronics LCR45 LCR and Impedance Meter
The LCR45 is a well built piece of test equipment for measuring inductors, resistors and capacitors. The device component values, complex impedance, complex admittance and Magitude and Phase of impedance with reasonable accuracy and at various test frequencies depending on the component value or your needs.
