SDG #367 Geeboon HA310 solders copper bar with ease! Drives all JBC handpieces.
The Geeboon HA310 is the flagship of Geeboon’s revised soldering station lineup, replacing the earlier high power model with a mains transformer design rather than a switch mode supply. That choice matters for two reasons: the toroidal transformer gives genuine isolation between mains and the tip (lower leakage current for sensitive work), and it allows the heater to be switched on the AC waveform at the zero crossing instead of PWM-ing high DC currents, which should keep electrical noise down.
Compatibility is the headline feature. Sense resistors in each handpiece connector let the controller identify whether a T115, T210, T245 or T470 is plugged in, and a relay reconfigures two secondary windings in series to deliver roughly 48V AC when the big T470 cartridge is detected. On a 230V supply the station pulled around 450W from the mains during T470 warm-up, well above the 350W rating and beyond the 250VA transformer’s nameplate, which is realistic given soldering is never a 100% duty cycle load.
The practical testing is where the value becomes clear. The T245 with a 5mm chisel drew about 250W and worked through 11mm pads on a four layer via-stitched board without hesitation. The T470 then flowed solder across a solid copper bar as if it were thin FR4, largely thanks to the sheer thermal mass of the cartridge acting as an energy reservoir.
Interface-wise there is no rotary encoder, but the up/down buttons, three presets, adjustable PID and step size, DTC compensation and an RS485 robot control port cover most bases. Calibration was only a few degrees out of the box. The main gripe is that the nicer orange cradle does not physically accommodate the long T470 handpiece, leaving the basic stamped metal stand as the only option for the highest power tips.
