SDG #354 Quick 861 Pro High Power Hot Air Station

The Quick 861 Pro is the company’s flagship hot air station: the 1300 W heater of the 861X and TR1300A, a new blower raising airflow from 55 to 70 litres per minute, four presets rather than three, three segment reflow profiles for repeatable BGA work, and offline voice control. It shares the TR1300A metal case, weighs just under 4.5 kg, and has a crisp TFT, a cool air button and an illuminated power switch, with a permanently attached hose. The handpiece and cradle are the familiar Quick parts, the cradle cooling the heater to 100C before stopping the blower, and only four friction fit nozzles from 5 to 12 mm are supplied.

Inside, the mains inlet is bonded to the chassis and feeds a filter, MOV, inrush resistor and bridge rectifier into four Jamicon capacitors for the 350 V rail. A CR6841 flyback supply and an SM7015 buck provide the low voltage rails, a triac drives the heater, and a separate MOSFET board runs the 24 V brushless blower. The front panel has an STM32, SRAM and an audio codec for the voice control microphone.

The unit is quiet at normal airflow, with most of the noise at maximum coming from the handpiece. A graphing screen shows temperature and airflow and reveals a consistent airflow overshoot on start. The segment profiles work as described, though the graph cannot be viewed while one runs. Voice control accepts only exact phrases from the manual and missed several temperature commands. Removing a BGA from an old graphics card needed around 400C, with the station drawing a peak of 1400 W but settling near 600 W. Performance and build are strong, but the extra heater power only shortens heat-up time, so existing Quick owners gain little unless they need the profiles.
