Technique still dominates results: correct tip inner diameter for the lead, adding a little fresh solder to the joint, keeping the tip moving in the hole, and triggering vacuum at the right moment.

Maintenance is the other honest takeaway. Any vacuum desoldering tool lives or dies by how diligently you clear the tip, change the filter and empty the solder collection chamber, and the MX-DS1 is no exception. For anyone reworking older through-hole equipment, connectors, or large electrolytics in volume, this is the kind of tool that pays back in saved boards rather than saved minutes.
