The i2c PDK1200 is one of the physically largest Chinese soldering stations covered on the channel, and much of that bulk comes from a genuine 300VA toroidal transformer with separate 23V secondaries for each of its two independent channels plus a 12V rail for the logic. It accepts JBC-compatible C115, C210 and C245 handpieces, and the unit shown here shipped as the mixed 210/245 set with two cradles, four cartridges, cable tidies and a USB lead for firmware updates.
The teardown is the most informative section for anyone weighing this against cheaper stations. Construction is modular, with a rear power board carrying the mains inlet, opto-isolated MOSFET switching directly off the AC secondaries, ACS712-style current sensing and OP07 thermocouple amplification, plus a single microcontroller that drives the front TFT through a ribbon cable. Isolation and layout look sane, and there is enough spare internal volume that the case could plausibly have been smaller.
Practical findings matter here. Out of the box the 350C setpoint read roughly 20C low, easily corrected with the built-in per-channel calibration offset. The supplied small cartridge struggled on high thermal mass work at around 100W, while a genuine 5mm JBC tip pulled 130W and dumped heat into pads and even a coin without complaint, a useful reminder that tip geometry, not headline wattage, limits real performance. Quirks include a brief false temperature reading when the handpiece returns to the cradle and a blank screen during flashing. There is no sponge or brass wool station, but the plastic cradles feel solid and the pedal and robot ports hint at bench automation use.
