The Sequre S60 is a USB-C powered soldering iron built around JBC C210 style cartridges, and the standout finding here is that it accepts genuine JBC tips rather than locking you into a thin proprietary range. That matters more than the headline wattage: cheaper USB irons like the Pinecil or Miniware alternatives are often limited by tip selection, whereas the C210 ecosystem opens up serious fine-pitch work.

The review covers what actually arrives in the box, including a carry case, a stand with sponge (a genuine practical touch, since resting a hot USB iron on the bench is a common failure mode) and a bundled charger. That charger is the first caveat: at roughly 3A/5V, 2A/9V and 1.5A/12V it tops out near 18W, so the 60W figure describes the internal driver’s capability, not what you get out of the box. Input is capped at 12V across PD 2.0/3.0 and Quick Charge 2/3.

The teardown shows a tidy v1.8 board with an N-channel MOSFET, a 100W PD controller, a precision op-amp for thermocouple reading, an STM32 class microcontroller, fuse protection and an accelerometer driven sleep function. Heater resistance is compared directly: the supplied cartridge reads about 2.4 ohms versus 1.9 ohms for a genuine JBC C210, meaning slightly more power from the real thing and still within the driver’s limits.

Calibration is verified against a tip thermometer at both 300 and 350 degrees C, landing within a couple of degrees. A printed manual explaining the display and menu structure is a welcome rarity in this category. Conclusion: the 60W version is the one to buy, with a user-settable power limit if you need it.
